We are proud to announce that Paradise has been chosen as the agency of record for TheSwitzerland Inn, a historic, third-generation and family-run Blue Ridge Mountains resort in Little Switzerland, North Carolina.
“We are honored to share the story of this beautiful, unique, Blue Ridge Parkway-backdropped resort,” said Paradise CEO Barbara Karasek. “For generations, the Jensen family has provided guests – that they all know uncannily by name I might add – an outstanding experience that’s impossible to find anywhere else. From the minute you arrive, you immediately feel part of their family. It’s a hard place to leave and an easy place to keep coming back to.”
From its perch 3,600 feet above sea level, The Switzerland Inn gives visitors a one-of-a-kind resort-style experience complete with breathtaking views, personalized service, and easy access to some of the state’s most amazing natural discoveries.
Originally built in 1910 as the summer retreat of N.C. Supreme Court Justice Heriot Clarkson, The Switzerland Inn attracts travelers from throughout the Southeast who relish its mountain breezes, modern accommodations, and endless views. It has been owned and operated by the family of Gary Jensen, who bought the hotel in 1983 and moved his family there from Jacksonville, Florida. His granddaughter, Jordan Gowan (nee Jensen), and husband Nathan Gowan, are third generation family members to manage the 70-room resort.
“My family has dedicated itself to preserving and expanding the legacy of our amazing resort,” Jordan Gowan said. “We’re proud to offer the kind of service that brings our guests back year after year to such a special place in the mountains. We’re excited to be working with Paradise to bring our story to a wider audience.”
Paradise will be responsible for advertising, public relations, and social media, as well as a website redesign and evolving The Switzerland Inn brand.
“The Switzerland Inn is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to promote a unique property that, while deeply rooted in history, is evolving and growing to meet the needs of the modern traveler,” said Paradise President Rudy Webb.
Since its expansion in 1926, The Switzerland Inn has been the only private resort with immediate access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, the 469-mile motorway connecting Great Smoky Mountains National Park on the North Carolina/Tennessee border with Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. The Switzerland Inn is located at Mile Marker 334 on the Parkway.
The Switzerland Inn is a popular stop for Parkway travelers and has been a favorite destination for some families across multiple generations. The resort includes a variety of accommodation styles, including mountain view suites in the main lodge, and adjacent cottages and A-frame cabins. Notably, the Caprice Cottage once served as the original 1910 tea room and the rustic Diamond Back Lodge, with 8 individual rooms and cozy common areas, is appointed to host groups and family and friends getaways. All suite, room, cottage and cabin amenities include sustainable and eco-friendly products by Natura, water conserving features, eco-friendly appliances, and complimentary Wifi, which was upgraded in 2021.
The recently renovated full-service Chalet Restaurant and Fowl Play Pub entice guests with meals built around locally sourced ingredients, a bar tap list that covers many of the region’s best craft beers, and indoor and outdoor dining options, of which both offer unobstructed long range views of the North Carolina mountains. Inside the main lodge, guests can relax in front of the fireplace, grab a book from the book nook, play cards, checkers, chess, or many other board games, piece together puzzles on the community puzzle table, and browse the gift shop filled with local treasures. The great lawn offers ping pong, corn hole, a fire pit, and Adirondack chairs. An outdoor pool, two hot tubs, six new pickleball courts, and outdoor yoga classes round out the resort’s on-site activity options. Swiss village style shops and an ice cream parlor are located adjacent to the parking lot and, within a few minutes drive, visitors can experience Mt. Mitchell’s 6,628 ft summit, golfing, biking, rock climbing, ziplines, gem mines, and fishing.
